Former FBI head named as special counsel to investigate Russia election maneuvers

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein says decision is ‘in the public interest’

Robert Mueller, a former prosecutor who served as the FBI director from 2001 to 2013, has agreed to serve in the role, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said. The move marks a concession by the Trump administration to Democratic demands for the investigation to be run independently of the Justice Department.
The problem with this appointment is that it is not independent of the FBI which has a conflict of interest in investigating the leaks coming from both the intel community and the FBI in this matter.  There should be an independent counsel who can bring cases against those who have been spilling US secrets in their attempt to attack the President.
