Force to space makes it difficult to riot

Washington Post:
Curfew lifts after calmer night in Baltimore
National Guard patrols while protesters lament violence
There was no repeat of Monday’s violence, in which dozens of people pelted police, looted stores and set things ablaze. But tensions remained as the city sought to return to normal.
In watching the report from the city on Fox last night it was clear that the streets were lined with police and National Guard troops leaving no room for the thugs who terrorized the city the night before.  The same principles that apply to counterinsurgency operations work in stopping looting and mayhem in a city.  Put enough law enforcement on the streets and it will stop the mob action.

Baltimore's mayor made a mistake by not calling for help from the state sooner.
