A transition from Venezuelan oil to LNG from the US?

Fears that falling oil prices could knock the wheels off the already wobbly economy of oil-dependent Venezuela have sparked apparent interest in alternatives to Petrocaribe, a trade program created by the late President Hugo Chavez that has kept the region dependent on the South American country for energy.

Venezuela can't afford to sell at full price with the current market, much less at a discount.  A switch to LNG from diesel generation would also lead to less pollution and would wind up costing less.  Even Venezuela can't rely on its own incompetent government currently.
