Taliban treachery focused on Afghan police

NY Times:

Wave of Betrayal Claims Afghan Policemen

Seventeen Afghan police officers have died in the past 10 days — all killed in their sleep, at the hands of those close to them. Above, a graduation ceremony in Jalalabad.
The Taliban is having difficulty surviving on the battlefield so it has turned to treachery to keep its war effort alive.  Initially its attacks were focused on NATO forces, but those troops have taken steps to make it more difficult to stab them in the back.  The Afghans are going to have to take security measures to isolate people they do not know until they can show their loyalty.

What should be clear is that the suggestion that these attacks are caused bu cultural differences is an excuse that no longer has any merit if the back stabbing is focused Afghan police.
