Obama plans to use violence in Afghanistan for political gain

NY Times:

Afghanistan Violence Causes Ripples on Campaign Trail

Fresh bloodshed has presented President Obama with a potential political weakness, but the White House believes the flare-up will reinforce Americans’ desire to end the war.
This seems to be an example of Obama's cynicism about the war and the lives it is costing.  The deaths become and excuse for retreat, but it is not a retreat he is willing to make yet.  His decision to ignore the advice of commanders has made us more vulnerable and has put the troops at greater risk from rogue elements within the Afghan forces.  Those dangers will only increase under the current Obama strategy.

Force protection will become increasingly difficult as we leave small units of trainers with larger Afghan unit.

Obama has adopted a strategy for a debacle, instead of a strategy for victory.  Republican candidates should be critical of this strategy.
