Al Qaeda supported attack on Pentagon thwarted

Roll Call:
A 26-year-old Massachusetts man was arrested and charged Wednesday in connection with a plot to attack the Pentagon and the Capitol, the Justice Department announced.
Rezwan Ferdaus, a U.S. citizen, is accused of planning to use a remote-controlled aircraft filled with explosives to attack the buildings. He was also charged with attempting to provide support and resources to a foreign terrorist organizations — specifically al-Qaida, the organization behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
“The conduct alleged today shows that Mr. Ferdaus had long planned to commit violent acts against our country,” U.S. Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz said in a statement.
Undercover FBI operatives helped lead to the arrest of Ferdaus, a Northeastern University graduate with a degree in physics. A Justice Department news release said he “began planning to commit a violent ‘jihad’ against the U.S. in early 2010.”

The article does not mention it but Ferdaus could be a Muslim.  Al Qaeda usually requires that of its members. It sounds like he was going to use suicide drones for the attacks.  He apparently fits the profile of a "lone wolf" terrorist suspect.
